My Internship at ICPA: A Deep Dive into Relational Psychoanalysis

My internship at ICPA was an eye-opening and transformative experience. Through participation in supervision sessions, I gained valuable insight into clinical practice, exploring how therapists work within the psychodynamic framework, particularly through the lens of relational psychoanalysis.

These sessions provided a hands-on understanding of the practical challenges that emerge in therapy and how therapists can navigate complex ethical dilemmas, emotional dynamics, defenses, and thought processes; all while prioritizing the client’s well-being.

What truly stood out was the supportive and inclusive environment fostered by the therapists at ICPA. They welcomed us into supervision sessions as though we were already part of the professional community, offering constructive feedback and guidance that encouraged both personal and professional growth. This collaborative approach made the experience not only educational but deeply affirming, as we were treated as future colleagues in the field.
